Holding an FLL Workshop
Holding a workshop for younger kids is a great way to expose them to robotics, and it gives all teams opportunities to spread their messages throughout their communities. It may seem like a huge challenge at first, but once the whole team learns to participate and volunteer together, the task goes incredibly smoothly and quickly.
To learn how to hold your own workshop, we've put together a helpful guide with flyers, presentations and outlines for the workshop.

Planning & Advertising
The first thing you need to do is plan exactly what you want to do in the workshop. Don't try to be too bold if this is your first time holding a workshop like this, it will take the kids a while to grasp concepts that may seem simple to you. Secondly, you need to advertise your workshop; it's best to target elementary and middle schools to gain participants for your workshop. We attached a file of a flyer and a sample workshop plan, with sensitive information removed, for you to use or to give you an idea of what to make. It's also a good idea to have participants fill out applications and to compile them into a spreadsheet to keep track of your participants. You should also plan a small snack or recess for the participants.

Presentations & Holding the Workshop
Now that the basics of the workshop are taken care of, it's important to flush it out as much as you can. You want to make sure you have enough volunteers and participants to hold it; also, you need to make sure you have a place to hold the workshop, such as a school cafeteria or classroom. To teach the kids, it is best to have presentations to the whole group, and then split them up into smaller groups with mentors to work on their robot. We have attached the presentations as examples, and it may be a good idea to make handouts to give to the participants after the presentations.

Holding the Workshop
After all the work and planning you have gone through, its time for you to hold the workshop. During the workshop, make sure to stay enthusiastic and make it fun for the kids. Good luck!
